Marvel Stadium Privacy Policy

Melbourne Stadium Limited (“MSL”, “We” “our” and “us” as the context requires), the operator of Marvel Stadium, and its related bodies corporate (including the Australian Football League (AFL), the owner of Marvel Stadium) are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals’ personal information, being information that identifies you, or could identify you. MSL is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) (“the Privacy Act”). MSL is also committed to complying with the Spam Act 2003 (Commonwealth), which deals with restrictions on sending emails.

This Privacy Policy outlines how MSL manages “personal information”, (being information that identifies you, or could identify you) , the sorts of personal information held by MSL and for what purpose, and how that information is collected, stored, used and disclosed.

  1. Collection of personal information

In its capacity as the operator of Marvel Stadium, MSL may, from time to time, collect, hold and use personal information.

The kinds of personal information that MSL may collect and hold includes name and address details, telephone and mobile phone numbers, gender, occupation, email addresses, credit card detail, details of items or services ordered or purchased from us, or details of attendances at Marvel Stadium events. We may collect personal information about you:

  • from an application form, competition entry form. registration form, order form, email or;
  • verbally if you contact us directly or;
  • from your access of our website or app.

By providing us with personal information, you consent to that information being collected, used, disclosed and stored in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you don’t consent to give us personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy it may affect our ability to provide you with products and services in connection with Marvel Stadium.

We may also in limited circumstances collect information about you which is considered sensitive under applicable privacy and data protection laws. In those circumstances, we will separately ask for your consent to handle your health or other sensitive information or, in certain circumstances, you will consent to our collection by providing your health or other sensitive information to us.


We also may collect additional non-personally identifiable information (for example, browser version, IP address), that will provide information regarding the general use of the Marvel Stadium website and app.

  1. Use of Personal Information

MSL will only collect, hold and use personal information about you that is reasonably necessary for the operation of Marvel Stadium and the provision of entertainment and related products and services.

MSL may use your personal information for purposes including:

  • to verify your identity;
  • to provide you information about events to which you have purchased tickets to;
  • to inform you about other events, products or services offered by MSL and its related bodies corporate that may interest you;
  • marketing analysis in order to improve Marvel Stadium products and services
  • to inform you about corporate partners and sponsors of Marvel Stadium and to market and promote their products and services to you;
  • to allow our partners and sponsors to market and promote their products and services to you; and
  • to facilitate administrative and operational functions
  • to identify risk and implement appropriate controls to prevent or manage public health responses to pandemics or similar occurrences, including by providing personal information to relevant Government and health authorities, upon request, to assist with contact tracing and take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of our employees, contractors, and others, and the security of our sites; and
  • to provide to our third party service providers in connection with any of the above.

You consent to MSL using your personal information for sending you information, including promotional material about the Marvel Stadium events, products and services, as well as the products and services of selected third parties in accordance with this Privacy Policy, now and in the future.  You also consent to MSL contacting you with such information by means of direct mail, email, SMS, MMS messages, social media and via telephone. If you no longer wish to receive this information from MSL, please follow the steps specified in paragraph 11.

  1. Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

MSL will not disclose personal information of an individual to third parties except:

  • to our related bodies corporate;
  • to third parties appointed by MSL to assist in supplying products or services or who perform functions on our behalf  in connection with operation of our business (e.g. payment processing and authorisation, fraud protection and credit risk reduction, product customisation, order fulfilment and shipping, marketing and promotional material distribution, website evaluation, data analysis and, where applicable, data cleansing);
  • to third parties to market and promote their products to you where you have consented prior to you providing the information;
  • where required or authorised by law; or
  • with the individual’s consent.


While MSL may need to share personal information with these third parties so that they can perform services on our behalf , however, we limit the personal information that we give to them and authorise them to use this information only for the purpose of performing those services.

MSL may share aggregated demographic information about our user base with our agents, including agencies or third party vendors so that they can provide marketing analysis and consult on advertising strategies. This information does not identify individual users. We also may share non-personal information, such as the number of users who visit the Marvel Stadium website during a specific time period or who purchased a specific product through the website, with our marketing partners, advertisers and others from time to time. This information generally is shared in an aggregated form.

MSL does not otherwise disclose personal information without your permission, unless the disclosure is:

  • in accordance with this Privacy Policy or any agreement you enter into with us; or
  • required or authorised by law, including, without limitation, the Privacy Act.
  1. Disclosure of Personal Information Overseas

Wherever reasonably practicable, MSL will store personal information on data servers that are owned and controlled by MSL (or its related bodies corporate) and are located within the geographical borders of Australia. However, some of your personal information may be transferred, stored, processed, used or disclosed overseas by MSL or MSL’s third party service providers. In particular, at the date this Privacy Policy was most recently updated, your personal information may be disclosed to recipients in the USA, United Kingdom, Singapore, Gibraltar, and other countries from time to time. 

This may happen if our service providers are located overseas, or if transactions, information, services or products have an overseas connection. Where such parties are located overseas, you may have rights to enforce such parties’ compliance with applicable data protection laws, but you may not have recourse against those parties under the Privacy Act in relation to how those parties treat your personal information.

You agree to the disclosure and use of such personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and consent to its disclosure overseas and its use by third parties, including our service providers, in the USA, United Kingdom, Singapore Gibraltar, and such other countries in which those parties or their computer systems may be located from time to time, where it may be used solely for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, without us being responsible for such use (or for any breach).  Where MSL uses cloud computing services we will use our reasonable endeavours to ensure that such disclosures are in compliance with Australian privacy laws.

  1. Storage and Security of Personal Information

Personal information may be stored by MSL in paper-based form or in electronic databases. MSL will take reasonable steps to ensure information within MSL’s direct control is held securely in electronic or physical form We use a range of security processes to protect personal information we hold from loss, misuse, interference, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including:

  • maintaining computer and network security requiring logins and passwords;
  • physically securing external and internal premises; and
  • training of staff
  1. Notifiable Data Breaches Scheme

In the event of any loss, or unauthorised access or disclosure of your personal information that is likely to result in serious harm to you, MSL will investigate and notify you and the Australian Information Commissioner as soon as practicable, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Any person may request access to and seek correction of their personal information held by MSL and MSL will treat that request in accordance with the Privacy Act. Depending on the nature of your request, we may ask you to complete a personal information request form, and provide proof of identity. In certain cases we may charge an administration fee for granting access to information but will inform you at the time. We may refuse to provide access if permitted to do so by law. MSL aims to provide access to personal information subject of those requests within 30 days of a valid request.

MSL treats privacy complaints seriously And will respond to complains promptly, in a confidential manner, and without affecting any commercial arrangements you may have with MSL from time to time. 

MSL’s Privacy Officer will investigate your complaint and respond to you in a reasonable period of time.

  1. Accessing Marvel Stadium Website

The Marvel Stadium Website refers to the top-level domain located at, all related subdomains and related websites providing Marvel Stadium products or services, including related mobile applications (Marvel Stadium App). You need not disclose your identity to MSL in order to visit the Marvel Stadium Website or use the Marvel Stadium app, except where personal information is voluntarily supplied, however MSL’s internet servers may automatically record details about any computer used to access the Marvel Stadium Website (such as the IP address, domain name and browser type), the date and time of access, and details of the information downloaded. This information is used for internal statistical purposes and to improve Marvel Stadium products and services.

(Cookies) MSL uses “cookies” on its website (“web analytic” cookies) to help track usage patterns in order to improve and manage our site. MSL  may use them to remember your  user preferences and are designed to improve your user experience on the Marvel Stadium website. We also log domain and IP address automatically when you visit our site, however this information does not identify you as an individual, but only the computer that you are using to view the site and your approximate geographic location.

(Website Analytics) When you visit and browse the Marvel Stadium Website and app, our website host and some third party service providers may collect information for statistical, reporting and maintenance purposes. Subject to the terms of this Privacy Policy, this information is used to administer and improve the performance of the Marvel Stadium website and app and will not be used to identify you.  The information may include:

  • the number of users visiting our website and the number of pages viewed;
  • the date, time and duration of a visit;
  • visiting patterns of individuals accessing the Marvel Stadium Website;
  • the IP address of your computer; and
  • the path taken through our website.

MSL uses website analytic services to help analyse how you use the Marvel Stadium Website (Website Analytics). Website Analytics generate statistical and other information about website use by means including but not limited to cookies which are stored on users' computers. The information generated is used to create reports about the use of the MSL Website. Our third party providers of these services may store this information. MSL will not (and will not allow any third party to) use Website Analytics to track or to collect any personally identifiable information of visitors to the MSL Website. MSL will not associate any data gathered from the MSL Website with any personally identifying information from any source as part of the MSL’s use of Website Analytics.

(Children’s Privacy) If you are under 18, you should only use the Marvel Stadium Website with involvement of a parent or guardian. For their protection, we ask that anyone under 18 years of age does not attempt to provide us with any personal information without the consent of a parent or legal guardian.

(Links) This policy does not extend beyond the Marvel Stadium Website ( ) and App. When linking to other sites from this website, we recommend that you read the privacy statement of that site to familiarise yourself with its privacy principles. MSL makes no warranties or representations in respect of those third party websites’ privacy policies or website contents. Third party websites are responsible for informing you about their own privacy practices.

  1. Opt-Out/Unsubscribe

If you are receiving promotional information about MSL or Marvel Stadium and do not wish to receive this information any longer, you may ‘unsubscribe’ from receiving communications from Marvel Stadium by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email communication that was sent to you and following the prompts, or e-mailing us at requesting to be removed from our mailing list.

It may take some time to put an opt-out or an unsubscribe in effect so you may still receive communications for up to 5 business days after your request is received.

For the avoidance of doubt, by opting–out or unsubscribing yourself from a mailing list of a Marvel Stadium product or service this will ensure your removal from that particular mailing list, but will not guarantee your removal from other mailing lists that MSL may store your details in as a result of your engagement with a different service or product.

We reserve the right to amend this policy from time to time. When appropriate, a revised policy will be posted on our website which will incorporate any changes.
